The theater was never that busy at night.
It was logical, really - most people in the town liked to sleep at night, after all. Save, perhaps, for a few Noctowl's out there, there was virtually nobody out and about. Around nine pm, save if there was a special movie on, the theater would close it's doors and dim it's lights. Quite and dark, the locked doors were enough to keep all but the deviants out and away until they opened in the morning.
But to Teshi, it was a virtual playground. And it was a playground that was all hers. How many times had she slipped her eager fingers around the lock, fiddling with a hairclip where the key would usually be inserted? Like she'd ever counted! (Like she'd ever been able to count it, even if she wanted to!)
Others really should have learned - placed a better lock on the doors, or two - but no. Teshi was usually gone in the morning, before anyone arrived - leaving in her wake a trashed sub-theater and a ajar door. The one or two times she had actually been found - well, nobody had ever been hold the girl for long. Either she slipped away before she was faced with punishment - or noone had the heart to actually go through with it.
With a satisfying, all too familiar click, the lock opened, letting the doors to swing inwards. Teshi's giggle was like a gunshot in the silence - brash and unexpected. The theater was so fun! Sometimes, she found shiney things beneath the seats that people had lost - and those treasures, she usually got to keep - because nobody saw her take them.
Just the thought of that night's possible spoils made Teshi's finger's twitch in excitement. Her toes wriggled in similar sympathy - she had never felt the need to wear socks in the theater, as she enjoyed the feeling of the plushy seats beneath her rough feet.
The smell of stale popcorn hung in the air, and Teshi's stomache growled in sympathy. Sometimes, she forgot to eat - and there was always food to find in the theater. Certainly, it's ripeness was in question - some of the candy under the country was probably from ages ago - but really, what was the expiration date on a twinky? It was all good for her.
Bounding across the floor in her easy, bouncy stride, Teshi vaulted the concession's counter, her giggle turning into a delighted cackle as she nearly landed on a dropped bag of popcorn, loaded up with melted butter. Jackpot! The little aipom girl started grabbing fistfuls upon fistfuls of stale food and cramming it into her mouth.
Unfortunately - she had forgot the shut the door behind her - to make it appear, at least to the uncautious observer, that they were still locked. She didn't realize her mistake, until she heard footsteps...

Dawn had been kicked out of her house by her mom, her mother not wanting her to spend every day of summer inside. Dawn had made a deal, instead of going out in the hot sun, she would be out of the house that night. It had worked, her mother agreed. Now she was wandering around trying to keep herself busy when she noticed from across the street that the theater door was open. "Hmm, that's odd." She muttered to herself before crossing the deserted street. She walked slowly through the doors only to find a girl behind the counter. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Dawn said as she observed the situation.
